Women in Music a Huge Success

Posted on Mar 18, 2011

The first ever Women in Music forum was a huge success with nearly 300 young and experienced women attending.  We have had a lot of positive feedback in relation to this event and Q Music is considering its options for how to develop the event further.  We are currently taking on the feedback of participants and supporters alike to refine the direction and content of an event such as this.

One of the highlights of the event was being able to engage so many local women who are so productive in our industry.  To all of those who participated in the delivery of the event thank you very much.  This event was also our first attempt at engaging with high school and early tertiary students and this was a great indicator for us of schools interests in connecting with the music industry.

We look forward to developing similar day programs for both young men and women across Queensland in the future that provides opportunities for the wealth of industry practitioners we have here in Queensland both young and not so young to transfer their enthusiasm and skill base to those who are interested in joining our industry.

A special thanks to our supporters of the event, Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Art, PPCA, Southern Cross University (Centre for Tourism, Leisure and Work) and Brisbane City Council for providing us with the opportunity to engage the wonderful Charlotte Herron as our Assistant Event Producer.  Thanks also to the Q Music staff and the Women in Music network who worked very hard to make this such a successful event.
